As the proverbial dust settles from the highly suc As the proverbial dust settles from the highly successful 2022 BC Provincial High School Basketball Championships, we wanted to take a moment to highlight all of our participating athletes from VSC, and in particular those who were acknowledged for their notable performances.

A number of these players have played in our VSC program since the 1st grade and continue to do us proud with their caliber of play, competitive will and the manner in which they conduct themselves.

Due credit also goes to the programs that worked with these players prior to joining our VSC Club, and to the trainers and coaches whose ongoing efforts have positively impacted their player development. It certainly takes a village…so congratulations all around!

If they can see it, they can be it! With the VSC If they can see it, they can be it!

With the VSC U10 Boys playing at halftime of the recent SFU vs. UBC match, we flashback to 2013…when our VSC U10 Girls played during halftime at the Canada vs. Japan Women’s National Basketball game.

Fun Facts…

• In July 2019, 3 of the VSC girls in the photo went on to represent Canada at the U16 FIBA Americas Championships in Chile.

• In July 2021, 2 of these girls competed for Canada in the U19 World Championships in Romania.

• Tamara Tatham, a National Team player, shown in the picture standing behind our VSC players, served as one of their coaches on the U16 and U19 Women’s National teams.

• Alison McNeil, the Head Coach of that Canadian Women’s National team in 2013, would go on to later coach a number of those “wide eyed” girls at the high school level.

• Of the 14 players on this team, 6 are now on full scholarship playing NCAA basketball, and 2 are competing at the USport level.

Never underestimate the power of role models and positive mentors, in the lives of our young people…

If they can see it, they can be it!

If they can see it, they can be it!
After a recent loss to an opposing team, we receiv After a recent loss to an opposing team, we received the following text message from the winning coach. Our mission is to build Character and Leaders through sport. The coach’s words are far greater than the sum of this team’s collective victories…

Takeaways:

1. Class Act = The winning coach took the time to communicate his observations, hours after the game.

2. Win in Character = Not everything that counts, can be counted.

3. It is not what we teach but what is emphasize = Players will reflect and do what they repeatedly hear and see…PERIOD!
